100%’s Big Challenge… THEY DID IT!!

Over the weekend of 16th September, Team 100% took on the National 3 Peaks Challenge, raising over £6,000 for charities Mind and Emmaus…

With a total walking distance of 31 miles in 24 hours, this was a real test of physical endurance, mental stamina and effective teamwork!

The team set off from Manchester at 2pm on Friday; arriving at their bunkhouse in Fort William, Scotland around 8pm.

The first mountain was Ben Nevis; a total walking time of 5 hours 40 minutes; setting off at 5:25AM the immediate steep incline, in darkness, brought into reality the size of the challenge they had taken on! They reached the summit just after sunrise taking in some amazing scenery on-route.

Next up was Scarfell Pike in the Lake District; a total walking time of 5 hours 25 minutes; setting off at 5:45PM doing most of the walk under low cloud in darkness, to reach summit under torchlight after a steep climb over very rough terrain! With zero visibility, the team’s mountain guide expertly navigated them up and down with map & compass.

Last stop was Snowdon in Wales; supposedly the ‘easiest’ climb, setting off in darkness at 3.25AM the team found this to be the most demanding because of the combination of steep, rugged terrain and fatigue…the whole team was elated to reach the summit for sunrise and took in fantastic views of Cardigan Bay…

“We delighted to have succeeded in this personal achievement, with all the team returning in one piece! But, most importantly we are extremely proud to have been able to garner so much support to raise over £6000 for our two charities, Mind and Emmaus…

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!! “  Dan Williams, MD
